Austin blocks to fall into $300M ‘jenga’ tower

The Independent — the off-kilter-styled luxury condo tower — has a groundbreaking scheduled for January 11, at the construction site near Third St. and West Ave. The $300 million, 58-story structure will be the tallest in Austin when it’s completed in 2018. Balfour Beatty Construction has secured the general contractor assignment. The international construction firm is dominating new construction along the north side of Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin.
